| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は、キリスト教徒の反オスマン感情に対するオスマン帝国の戦略を検討し、革命の時代にオスマン帝国を位置づけることを目的としている。近年の研究は「革命の時代」を地中海や太平洋の文脈にまで拡大しているが、オスマン帝国は依然として周辺的な存在であり、ギリシャの革命活動やワッハーブ派の反応というレンズを通してのみ強調されることが多い。これに対し本研究では、1768年から1828年にかけての、コンスタンティノープル正教会総主教座とオスマン帝国政府との相互作用に焦点を当て、オスマン帝国と総主教座の両者がいかにして世界的な力学に対する共通の理解を深めていったのかを明らかにする。
