肥満患者は世界中で爆発的に増加しており、社会問題となっている。その一方で、肥満に効果的な治療薬は乏しい現状である。脂質代謝酵素の内、スフィンゴミエリン合成酵素（SMS）は、その阻害により、肥満の抑制に効果的であることが知られている。我々は、シシャモメタノール抽出物が高いSMS阻害能を有することを見出した。本研究では、シシャモに含まれる高いSMS阻害活性を持つ機能性物質を特定し、細胞および動物実験によって、有効性・安全性の調査を行う。
