セメント産業はエネルギー消費量が多く、二酸化炭素排出量も高い産業です。現在世界中は、セメントの使用量の低減を努力している。従来建築産業に使われているフライアッシュと違って、火山ガラス微粉末は工業廃棄物ではなく、優れる天然建築材料です。セメントの一部を火山ガラス粉末に置き換えることで、エネルギー消費と二酸化炭素排出量を削減できる。火山ガラス微粉末を建築産業に活用するため、火山ガラス微粉末を使用したコンクリートの強度、耐久性を明らかにすることが必要です。
