変異型 SOD1 が FLOT2 との結合を介して亜鉛取り込み を異常に亢進し、神経毒性を引き起こし、ALS の病態メカニズムになる可能性を考えた。この仮説を検証し、ALS の変異型 SOD1 による亜鉛毒性の分子メカニズムの解明を試みる。 さらに、この病態メカニズムを標的とした ALS 治療適応可能性を検証する。
