本研究はラテンアメリカ映画運動内におけるチリ映画の独自性を打ち出すとともに、その映画運動の理念がチリで継承されていく過程に注目する。人々の自発的かつ批判的な思考を育てる運動として当時のチリ映画を捉えることで、他国の影響を受けながらも、単なる政治イデオロギーの喧伝におわらない自律的な映画運動のあり方を示す。そして、その運動と後世の活 動とを比較することで、この地域で育まれた映画運動の伝統を描き出す。
