インテグラーゼ阻害薬(INSTI)は抗HIV薬の一種であり、HIVプロウイルスDNAの宿主細胞ゲノムへの組み込みを阻害する。近年INSTIがHTLV-1に対しても同様の感染阻害効果を示すことが報告されている。HTLV-1にはサルT細胞白血病ウイルス１型(STLV-1)という近縁ウイルスが存在し、ニホンザルはSTLV-1の自然宿主である。自身の所属する研究室では、STLV-1自然感染ニホンザルに関する研究を長年行っており、感染個体の利用が可能である。したがって、私はSTLV-1自然感染ニホンザルへのINSTI有効性検証を通して、HTLV-1キャリア体内における細胞間感染制御法の開発を目指す。
