本研究では，祭式において，Mitraがどのような供物を捧げられ，どのような機能を求められていたか，と言う点を中心に，Mitra-/mitra-の持つ機能を明らかにするとともに，これらの語が表す「同盟」関係がどのように規定されたものだったかを明らかにするものである。祭式の内部でMitraがどのような機能を求められていたかはこれまでまとまった研究が無いため，Mitraへ捧げられる供物，求められる内容を検証することにより，先行研究とは異なった視点からMitra/mitraの側面を明らかにすることが期待される。
