Outline of Research at the Start

パーキンソン病をはじめとした神経変性疾患の治療法開発の上での最大のボトルネックが脳血液関門の存在である。本研究では、非人類霊長類モデルを用いて集束超音波により脳血液関門を一時的に開放することでこの問題を解消し、パーキンソン病の原因物質とされるα-シヌクレインを抑制する核酸医薬を静脈内投与する。その上で、安全性や有効性を評価し最終的にはこの方法を実際のパーキンソン病の患者さんに応用できるような土台を築くことが本研究の目指すところである。
