生命システムにおける上皮系の接着性細胞は集団化することにより、受動的な物質の集合体では見られない集団として自発的な秩序ある運動が創発される。本研究課題では、「細胞集団の空間配置」と「構成する細胞数」を制限する物理的な空間構造が集団運動の秩序形成に与える相互関係を調べることで、細胞集団が境界面を持つことで初めて顕在化させる秩序創発のメカニズムを解明することを目的とする。制限空間構造が時間変化する時の秩序の消失から再構成を繰り返す応答機構を評価することで、「集団の動的秩序」という視点から発生・分化や転移がん等の生理学的事象の理解を目指す。
