アンドレ・ブルトン、ルイ・アラゴン、サルバドール・ダリらによって書かれたフランス語テクストと、西脇順三郎、瀧口修造、岡本太郎らによって書かれた1920年代から50年代にかけての日本におけるシュルレアリスム受容にかかわるテクストをコーパスとした比較文学的研究を通じて、戦前・戦後にまたがる花田清輝におけるシュルレアリスム受容の実相を複層的に把握し、花田清輝における「対立を、対立のまま、統一する」と言い表されるような特殊な弁証法公式の成立過程におけるシュルレアリスムの影響を解明する。
