Outline of Research at the Start

マダニは人を含めた多様な動物に寄生する。近年、マダニが渡り鳥により運ばれ、新たな病原体がアフリカ大陸から欧州大陸に侵入したと考えられている。アジア・オセアニア地域においては、渡り鳥がマダニや病原体をどの程度運んでいるのかはほとんど分かっていない。本研究では、アジア・オセアニア地域で、マダニを運ぶ鳥種と運ばれるマダニ種を特定する。さらに、マダニの病原体叢の解析などにより、海を越えて日本に持ち込まれるリスクの高い病原体を摘発する。
