全身諸臓器の癌の大多数は上皮内癌の段階を経て、浸潤癌となり、周囲組織の破壊、転移性・播種性の進展をきたしてヒトを死に至らしめる。現状において、病理組織学的に上皮内癌を層別化がなされている臓器はほとんどない。本研究課題では、同様のアプローチで全身諸臓器の上皮内癌の層別化を試みる。実施にあたっては、臓器横断的にゲノム病理学研究を推進してきた豪州の大規模施設と共同で取り組み、多数例の病理組織検体を対象としたゲノム解析を行ったうえで、臨床病理学的データの取得を目指す。最終的には人種を越えて共有されるバイオマーカーの同定や、上皮内癌の成り立ちにおける人種差の影響を明らかにしたい。
