| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The third wave of Four City (Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, and Guangzhou) was conducted in 2014 after eight year interval from 1998 and 2006. Sample size in each city was roughly 1,000. The survey included questions about targeted citizen’s (1) social life, (2) evaluation toward inequality and social problems, (3) perception toward foreign influence, and so on.
Chronological analysis of the survey data reveals the fact that former pattern in which respondent’s sense of betterment of his standard of living is contributing to high evaluation toward government’s performance has not changed while some interesting changes, including intensifying local identities in each city, have been identified. Some of these findings were reported in nine international meetings.
