Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this project, we aim to establish a new land management system ”Systèm pour la Lutte contre la Désertification et l’Amélioration des Conditions Sanitaires(SLDACS)” and create a model for conflict prevention by combining the environmental restoration and improvement of urban hygiene launched in 2015 with the creation of grazing land, along with clarifying the outline of the research outcome to the present day. The project leader has resided in a farming community of Hausa people in southern Niger since 2000 and conducted research to elucidate the desertification mechanisms from the residents’ perspective and studied the indigenous knowledge on desertification and response by the residents. The land receives manure to maintain the nutrients in the soil at the same time. Many plant varieties are stimulated by passing through livestock’s stomach, and they sprout out and grow out of such manure into trees.
