Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this research, we investigated methods for effectively using parallel computational resources in difficult combinatorial search problems such as robot action planning. We investigated search algorithms which adaptively adjust their control parameters during execution, as well as methods for reducing the overhead of communication among processors in parallel computation. The major results of this project include a new, adaptive, differential evolution algorithm and a new approach to distributing work in a parallel graph search search algorithm.
