Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research assessed the influence of Galen's authority on the anatomical books in the sixteenth century and revealed that Vesalius's introduction of the observation of human body made it difficult to strike a valance between Galen's authoritative description and anatomist's raw observation. The reformation of anatomy did not influence medical education in the sixteenth century. Teachers of medicine did not regard a study of anatomy as necessary for student. 'Medical study guide books' showed that anatomy was not a required subject for medicine until the seventeenth century.
