Outline of Final Research Achievements |
It was suggested that ratio of palmitoleic acid and palmitic acid in serum reflected visceral fat accumulation in type 2 diabetic patients. The ratio is called stearoyl-CoA desaturase-1(SCD-1) activity index. This blood marker should be useful in the practice of type 2 diabetic patients because visceral fat accumulation can lead insulin resistance.
