Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I made a comparative study on diagrams, which Walter Benjamin, Aby Warburg and other scholars used in their manuscripts, as intermediate between academic discourse and image to analyze the rules and cultural backgrounds that diagrams have in common as an expression of symptomatic knowledge. In addition, I investigated photographs that W. G. Sebald composed with his texts as a kind of diagram to show that these photographs evoke historical memory as symptomatic knowledge.
