Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aims to give clear syntactic criteria to sentence readability, which has been mentioned only intuitively in previous researches. The applicant collected complex sentence structures including adnominal clauses and clauses lead by subordinate conjunctions from several Japanese translations of The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald, and studied how these structures effect sentence readability.
