This research aims to empirically clarify the legal structure concerning "gender differences" between men and women in Korean society, focusing on the abolition of the household system in Korean civil law in 2008. In 2005, the Korean National Assembly decided to abolish the household system. It should be noted that the family register system, which had been united with the household system in the family system, was also abolished. Instead, "Family Relations Registration System" to register on an individual unit rather than a family unit was introduced. The characteristic of this research is that it attempts to elucidate the social factors of the Korean legislation that has been transformed into a new family system.
