This research revealed that architectural patron’s wishes and local traditions of medieval building more than architect’s individuality decided the Renaissance architecture of South Italy. It is however difficult to conclude that the patrons or architects referred to the Renaissance architecture in Florence or Rome, or they acquired some knowledge of all’antica style by way of architectural treatises, because it is necessary to consider the relationship between South Italy and Spain. Although the latter dominated the former at that time, cultural exchange between two regions is to be observed.
