Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We investigated transepithelial resistance (TER) on porcine retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) after various stimulation added. We used Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), 17β-estradiol, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), rebamipide as a stimulation. TER has been reduced to 60% after TNF-α added. But if 17β-estradiol added 2 hour before TNF-α stimulation, the TER was not reduced. We suggest 17β-estradiol prevents TNF-α damage in RPE. TER wasn’t reduced after VEGF added. When rebamipide added 2 hour before TNF-α stimulation, the TER was reduced. We suggest rebamipide doesn’t prevent barrier function of RPE.
