Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Biodegradable polymer fibers having micron-sized diameters and nano-sized surface roughness could be successfully fabricated by an electrospinning method under high humidity conditions. In addition, highly-dispersible calcium phosphate nanoparticles could be successfully fabricated by a novel method based on a homogenous solid state reaction. The combination of α- tricalcium phosphate which is bioactive bioceramics and biodegradable polymer fibers exhibited excellent bone forming ability in a rat calvarial bone defect model.
