Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Thermoelectric module is a promising energy-production technology which interconvert between thermal and electric energies. Present study tried to synthesize nanoparticles of a thermoelectric material, bismuth chalcogenide, using bacteria. In liquid media containing bismuth (III) and selenite, five bacterial strains synthesized Bi2Se3 nanoparticles of diameter 10-100 nm both inside and outside the cells. In liquid media containing bismuth (III), selenite, and telluride, O. anthropi TI-3 synthesized nanoparticles with elemental ratio ((S+Se+Te)/Bi = 1.88). This study proposed an environmentally friendly option to synthesize thermoelectric material without using high temperature condition.
