Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we examined the possibilities of making ordinary, day-to-day “paper” an input/output medium for the information world. By focusing on functional materials having potential to provide physical control and effect through factors such as light, heat, magnetism and electricity, and by “controlling” and “recognizing” functional materials hand-drawn or printed on paper, we have studied a way to (1) use computers to process and expand hand-drawn representations on paper, and (2) use paper as an interface to access the information world.
