ニホンジカの食害が渓流内の水生生物群集に及ぼす間接的影響の解明

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

岐阜県全域の落葉広葉樹林を対象として、ニホンジカによる森林下層植生（低木類・ササ類）に関する衰退度調査を実施した。民有林地を中心とした305地点に加えて、国有林71地点の計376地点において現地調査を行った。調査では低木類およびササ類のそれぞれの被覆度から下層植生衰退度ランク（SDR）を算出した。SDRは、ニホンジカによる高木・亜高木への剥皮被害割合や過去4年間のニホンジカ生息密度指標と強い相関が認められた。このことから、調査対象林分における下層植生の衰退は高密度化したニホンジカによる過度な採食圧が原因であると考えられた。
逆距離加重法を用いた空間補正によって、岐阜県内のSDR分布の地図化を行った。SDR分布は概ねニホンジカの生息密度指標の平均値と関連が見られ、生息密度指標の高い地域でSDRも高い値を示し、下層植生の衰退が見られた。特に、ニホンジカの生息密度が高い県西部および中部において下層植生の顕著な衰退が起こっていた。その一方で、飛騨地域の東部ならびに東濃地位の南東部ではニホンジカの生息密度平均値が1頭未満であるにもかかわらず、比較的高いSDRを示した。これらの地域では比較的近年になってニホンジカの生息分布域の拡大や高密度化が起こったと考えられた。また、SDRは調査林分におけるリター被覆度や土壌侵食の程度と強い相関関係が認められ、ニホンジカの採食影響による間接効果として、表土流出が生じている可能性も示唆された。この傾向は、急傾斜地（斜度25度以上）だけではなく、比較的緩傾斜の調査林分（斜度25度未満）においても確認された。
