Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study has investigated the development of the definite article and the loss of postnominal genitives in the history of English. It has been proposed that the definite article started to emerge at the end of the twelfth centry and completed during the foutheenth century, and this development had a influence on the loss of postnominal genitives. This study also attemps to give an account of the distributional changes of adnominal adjectives in the history of English.
