Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, I considered an educational practice (exercise of “writing about life” (seikatsu tsuzurikata) of elementary school teacher, Noriko Niwa. This study uses the concept of “life history” to elucidate the educational thought contained within Niwa’s practice and identifies her method as one in which children interactively mingle their life histories. I see children’s life histories as producing narratives about the self and stories for constituting the self. Consequently, I see Niwa’s practice as something that embraced these human activities and supported children’s development. In my future research I wish to build on previous research in order to discover and analyze concepts that elucidate Niwa's educational practice and its theoretical structure.
