Outline of Final Research Achievements |
To develop a fluorescent probe for simple and sensitive detection of cadmium, recognized as a highly toxic heavy metal, we have constructed a basic structure of an irreversible fluorescent probe for cadmium ions. Moreover, we have developed a practical fluorescent probe for cadmium ions based on coordination chemistry, and demonstrated that it allows highly sensitive and selective detection of cadmium ions. It has also been shown that the probe is applicable to cadmium ion imaging in living cells.
