Outline of Final Research Achievements

I developed organotypic tissue culture of porcine retina with particle-mediated gene transfer. Using this method, I successfully transfected cell morphological marker plasmid and synaptic marker plasmid into the porcine retinal ganglion cells. I examined morphology and synaptic position of the porcine retinal ganglion cells. I found several types of bistratified retinal ganglion cells including a candidate for direction-selective ganglion cells in porcine retinas.
