Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of this study is to clarify regional differences among childcare service provision and the childcare strategies of working mother and double-income families in Tokyo metropolitan area, where they face a lack of childcare services. The shortage of the authorized nursery centers is serious in metropolitan area, especially suburb area. In the central Tokyo, parents keep working with using private (non-authorized) daycare centers, while that leads the disparity of childcare opportunity among classes. In suburban areas, voluntary actors such as NPOs have important role to provide temporary childcare services.
