Outline of Final Research Achievements

MEG studies have reported M200 or M170 evoked during 130-200ms, which respond maximally to face stimuli. Numerous ERP studies have also reported a negative component peaking 150-250ms post-stimulus over temporo-parietal regions which responds maximally to face stimuli (N170). These components are a maximally to the face stimuli, but these components are also evoked to other visual stimuli.
The present study recorded cortical responses during 130-200ms to face likeness visual stimuli (sinusoidal grating) using MEG. We found a similar component to M170 during 160-170ms at posterior temporal region using BESA. We need further analysis in order to assess the difference between our components and M170s.
