本研究では、過去20年近く調査を継続してきた東大社研・若年壮年パネル調査（JLPS-YM）をウェブ調査に転換し、以前の回答に応じて異なる質問を尋ねたり、実験的手法を用いるなどの新しい調査を実施することで、社会経済構造が大きく変化する21世紀の日本社会において、人々はどのような「人生の歩み」をたどっており、そこにはどのような格差が生じているのか、またその要因と帰結はどのようなものであるのかを検討する。
