Outline of Research at the Start

インドネシアの熱帯泥炭地は、1970年代からのプランテーション開発で森林が荒廃し、乾燥化が生じてきた。エルニーニョの年には乾季が長引き、大規模火災が発生してきた。泥炭地火災で発生するPM2.5などの粒子状物質は健康面や交通面などに深刻な影響を与えている。本研究では初期の泥炭地火災に対処する方法論を構築する。スマトラ島東部において季節の動向と大気汚染データとの関連を雨の地域的な特徴に着目して村レベルで調査する。これらの情報から泥炭地火災のリスクが高まり始める時期の特定を目指す。大気汚染をリアルタイムで監視し、アプリを通じた住民からの提供情報も活用しながら、早期の火災検出と火災場所の特定を目指す。
