Outline of Research at the Start

顔面肩甲上腕型筋ジストロフィーやリポ蛋白(a)血症のような遺伝子疾患は、遺伝子の反復構造が短縮することが原因で発症する。しかし、遺伝子の反復構造を伸長させる技術は未熟であり、これらの疾患の根本原因を解消する治療法開発は未達である。本研究では、我々が独自に開発した縦列反復伸長法BITRExを用いて病因遺伝子を修復することに挑戦し、新たな遺伝子治療法の創出と再生医療の可能性を広げることを目指す。
