Outline of Research at the Start	長尾美術館は、わかもと製薬の創業者である長尾欽弥・よね夫妻が、昭和21年（1946）に神奈川県鎌倉市に開いた美術館である。現在では国宝や重要文化財に指定される「名品」を多く所蔵していたが、コレクションは少しずつ手放され、昭和40年（1965）頃には事実上の解散状態に至った。作品の購入や展覧会での公開に際して、長尾夫妻は美術史研究者たちと深い関わりを持っており、両者の関係性が、作品の「発見」や評価に結びついていたことが推測される。本研究では、長尾夫妻と美術史研究者との結びつきを通して、その所蔵品が「名品」として認められていく過程を明らかにし、長尾美術館が昭和初期の美術史学に与えた影響を考察する。
