Outline of Research at the Start

腸内細菌叢は免疫系と神経系の恒常性維持に重要な役割を果たし、その破綻は病原細菌への脆弱性を高めるだけでなく、炎症性疾患や精神疾患の病態にまで影響を及ぼすことが報告されている。ある種の細菌は神経伝達物質を産生し、その神経伝達物質に反応し得ることから、細菌と宿主間において神経伝達物質を介したクロストークが存在する可能性がある。しかし、神経伝達物質の細菌における役割についての理解は不十分である。そこで本研究では、神経伝達物質を介した腸内細菌と宿主間でのクロストークの解明を目指す。
