本研究は、春日大社に所蔵する和歌関係資料を対象として、文献調査にもとづく解題目録の作成と全文の翻刻といった基礎的研究を十分おこなったうえで、近世と近代といった既存の時代区分を架橋した観点と、同時代の文化・社会・思想的背景にひらいて文学表現を分析する方法を兼ね備えた総合的研究へと展開してゆくものである。
