Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、伊豆・相模地方から産出された江戸城用石材の海運実態を追究することで、「築城」という巨大プロジェクトにおける石垣普請のプロセスの解明を目的としている。
静岡県東伊豆町ほかの沖合海底に残された、江戸への搬送途中に海没した石垣用石材の分布状況の調査・分析を通じて、海送の具体的方法を考察し築城用材の調達工程を究明する。そのために海底潜水調査を実施し、マルチビーム測深機など先端機器を駆使して遺跡の細密かつ立体的把握を試みる。
また、積出港一帯の歴史的環境の調査や古文書類の拾遺と分析を行うなど、海陸に跨る城普請の連携作業の実像把握を目指して、文献史学・水中考古学・民俗学などによる融合研究を進める。
