Outline of Research at the Start

寒冷期（新ドリアス期）の水辺仮説（レフュジア仮説）を検証するために、白竜湖湖畔と山間部にそれぞれ位置する遺跡を多角的・総合的に比較検討する。更新世末から完新世初頭にかけての環境の変化に応じて定住化をはじめた人々の生活世界を具体的に描き出す。本研究の核心的な問いは、縄文文化形成の多様なあり方を検証するために、日本最古級の低湿地集落、及び洞窟／岩陰遺跡からローカルな環境変化を導き、それに対応した人類の適応を最新技術により解き明かすことにある。特に、新ドリアス前後の古環境をこれまで以上に細かい時間スケールで復元し、内陸低地部における北町／日向縄文人の生業活動と生活様式の変化とその実態解明に迫る。
