Outline of Research at the Start

Recombination of knowledge is a pivotal process for creating new knowledge and is ubiquitously observed in our knowledge-based economy. This project aims to deepen the theoretical and empirical foundation of the concept and to elucidate the mechanisms of knowledge recombination. To this end, the project develops a theoretical model of the process of knowledge recombination, develops new bibliometric approaches to capture various classes of recombination, and empirically analyses knowledge recombination in the context of scientific research.
