Outline of Research at the Start

モンゴル上部白亜系は世界的な化石の宝庫であるにも関わらず、絶対年代軸の確立が不十分のためマクロ進化的研究が立ち遅れてきた。本申請研究グループではこれまで、土壌成炭酸塩岩と脊椎動物化石を用いたU-Pb年代測定を行うことで、モンゴル上部白亜系に絶対年代軸を確立し、この問題を解決する可能性を示してきた。本申請研究では、炭酸塩岩と化石を用いた放射年代測定法に基づき、世界的にも稀なアジア内陸部乾燥気候下における脊椎動物多様性変動の解明を目指す。
