Outline of Research at the Start

As a systematic chemical-genetic interaction profiling platform for linking compounds with their cellular target pathways, we develop two new S. pombe barcoded mutant collections: a set of haploid gene deletion mutants covering non-essential genes and a heterozygous diploid deletion mutant collection covering essential genes in a drug-hypersensitive genetic background. We plan to utilize this new platform to screen functionally uncharacterized bioactive compounds and focus on detailed mechanistic characterization of compounds whose predicted targets are conserved from yeast to human cells.
