新たな保護基やタグを開発、導入して、一般の固相法ならびに液相法では達成することが困難な、30以上のアミノ酸残基から成る巨大ペプチドを高純度品として大量供給できる新たな化学合成法に関する学術基盤を開拓し、2型糖尿病と肥満症の治療に用いられるグルカゴン様ペプチド-1（GLP-1）受容体作動薬等の製造へと展開する。
