Outline of Research at the Start

ガラルファをヒト疾患モデル動物として用いる報告はこれまでになく独自性が高い。現在代表者が実施している癌モデルのみならず、本研究により温度が重要なファクターとなる臓器、免疫系や脳、肝臓・内臓脂肪など代謝性の高い臓器のヒト疾患モデル動物として成立すれば、これまでの小型魚類を超えるよりヒト病態を外挿した疾患モデル動物として、医学・創薬の分野で貢献ができる。哺乳類実験動物数の削減や、すでに一部の研究で始まっている哺乳類動物試験を行わない開発パイプライン「魚実験からヒト臨床試験」の流れを加速させ、持続可能な社会構築の基盤となる。
