Outline of Research at the Start

遺伝子発現の抑制や染色体の恒常性維持に必須なヘテロクロマチンは、特徴的なメチル化修飾を受けたヒストンを中心にして、それに特異的に結合するHP1タンパク質を足場にして、様々なトランス作用因子が集合することにより形成されている。本研究では、ヘテロクロマチン形成の過程を同調的に解析することが可能な優れたモデル生物であるテトラヒメナのin vivo実験系と試験管内でのヘテロクロマチンのin vitro再構成系を駆使して、複数のHP1タンパク質間の協調/排他的作用機序を明らかにし、真核生物のヘテロクロマチン形成の分子基盤の理解を目指す。
