Outline of Research at the Start

シロアリのカースト間で特異的に発現する遺伝子（=ソシオ遺伝子）は，基本的に多重遺伝子群で，遺伝子重複と社会性進化に密接な関係があることが示されている。更に，カースト分化経路に違い（=不妊ワーカーの有無）のある種間でソシオ遺伝子が大きく異なることも分かっている。即ち，シロアリの社会性の進化と多様化には，ソシオ遺伝子の獲得と調整が重要だった可能性がある。この検証には，重要なソシオ遺伝子の同定と発現調節のしくみを各系統で解明する必要がある。そこで各種のソシオ遺伝子と転写因子群を解析し，種間の共通性と各種の固有性を調べ，姉妹群のキゴキブリと比較し，社会性の進化と多様化へのソシオ遺伝子の貢献を理解する。
