Outline of Research at the Start

加齢に伴う腸管機能の低下は、様々な疾病の原因となる。老化個体では、腸幹細胞の機能低下や異常が腸管恒常性の破綻につながると示唆されているが、加齢に伴う腸幹細胞の変容機構には未解明な点が多い。本研究では、老化腸管における脱分化能の変容や脱分化の分子基盤を解明し、脱分化の制御によって腸管や個体機能の改善が可能かどうかを検証する。研究成果は、腸管上皮における脱分化機構の全容理解につながり、栄養介入や薬剤の組み合わせによる腸管恒常性の長期的な維持や機能低下の抑制という新規の治療方法創出に示唆することが期待される。
