Outline of Research at the Start	敗血症は、感染による影響が全身に波及し、多臓器不全に至る重篤な病態である。その死者数は世界で年間1,100万人に上り、癌による死者数を上回る。敗血症に至る原因として、腹腔内に生じる感染は2番目に多い感染巣である。研究代表者は、腹腔内に存在する免疫細胞やストローマ細胞の役割を解明し、腹腔感染に対する生体防御応答の理解に大きく貢献してきた。本研究では、大網乳斑の免疫応答の初動を担うマクロファージの役割を明らかにするとともに、一細胞オミクス解析から得られるデータをもとに、敗血症に対する有効な予防・治療法の確立を目指す。
