Outline of Research at the Start

山田耕筰（1886-1965）の音楽活動におけるロシア音楽界との接点に着目し、交流の実態や影響関係の解明を目指す。山田のニューヨーク滞在中（1918～19年）、および1931年と1933年の訪ソ時の活動をおもな調査の対象とする。
上記と並行し、山田と交流したロシアに縁のある来日音楽家たち、とりわけ「日露交歓交響管弦楽演奏会」（1925年）に出演した「ロシア側」の中心的なメンバーであるヨゼフ・ケーニヒとニコラーイ・シフェルブラートに焦点を当て、彼らの来日までの足跡、とくにロシアやハルビンでの活動について調査し、彼らの日本でのおもに指揮者としての活動との繋がりを明らかにする。
